Day Four
Today was another action-packed day here at Osmington Bay! This morning we travelled to the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, where the children worked in teams to build their own rafts before testing them out on the water. There was so much laughter, screaming and splashing as they paddled and played games – the cold water didn’t dampen their spirits one bit!
Once back at the centre (and after plenty of showers to warm up), the children enjoyed a trip to the gift shop where they picked out little pieces of memorabilia to remember their time here. After a lunch of burgers and chips, the afternoon brought more challenges with climbing and the sensory trail. Both activities gave the children the chance to show off their teamwork skills.
After dinner, the children hurried back to their rooms to get themselves dressed up and ready for the disco –they have been eagerly awaiting it all week! It was a wonderful way to celebrate their final evening at PGL.
Tonight the children will pack up their belongings, leaving out only the necessities, as tomorrow brings an early start. We’ll begin our last morning with two more activities – Jacob’s Ladder and Problem Solving – before enjoying lunch together and setting off at 12:30pm. We are aiming to arrive back at school for 5pm, but the office will keep you updated if there are any changes.
When we arrive back to school we will dismiss the children from the school hall. Please do not take them from the bus.
This is our final update from Osmington Bay – a goodnight from us all. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow!
Day Three
Today was another windy day in Osmington Bay but that didn't stop us from having fun in our activities. The first activities of the day were abseiling and archery. Many of the children thought that the abseiling tower was much higher when looking down from the top! So many of the children bravely descended with smiles of pride. After a lunch of spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread, we had our afternoon activities, which were survivor and rifle shooting. So many of the children were delighted when they hit their targets - they couldn't wait to share their success with one another. We ended the evening singing songs and roasting marshmallows around the camp fire that overlooks Osmington Bay.
Tomorrow we are heading off to Weymouth for our raft building activities - can't wait!
The children are having a wonderful time and our time with them is flying by. There are some parties in bedrooms tonight - lots of effort has gone into preparing these! Then it will be lights out ahead of our last full day together at Osmington Bay.
Goodnight!
Day Two
Our first full day at PGL has been a busy and exciting one. After eating a delicious breakfast, we had two activities- vertical challenge and aeroball. Everyone had so much fun. We ate well again at lunch. There were lots of options to choose from, which helped us refuel for our afternoon activities - the giant swing and beach walk. Before our dinner this evening, we wrote letters home - I hope you are all looking forward to receiving them soon. The children took part in PGL team games this evening.
Thank you to the parent who provided the children with Blessed Carlo Acutis prayer cards. The children appreciated receiving these and have them in their rooms so they pray to him - we have asked him to look after us and keep us safe this week.
We will endeavour to share each days news and activities with you, as soon as the children have settled for the night. Unlike the SPEC Retreat, we have minimal time away from the pupils - in fact we are with them all the time. We also have issues with devices and internet connection. We do hope that you are enjoying the updates.
Goodnight from a very sleepy Osmington!
Day 1
We arrived at a sun drenched Osmington Bay just after 12pm.
Unfortunately the raft building had to be postponed due to the high winds - there was a danger we may have ended up in France had we tried! We will be heading to the sea on Thursday for boat racing or the raft building.
Once the children saw their rooms (very exciting!) we had our lunches outside. We then had two activities - archery and street surfing. There were lots of options at dinner - chips, chicken, pasta and fish fingers along with a salad bar and cake for desert. The children ate well. In the evening they played 'Passport Round the World' which involved running all over the site finding different clues. We are hoping this will lead to a very quiet night and a good sleep for all the children...
After prayers we will be heading to bed and will be up for breakfast at 8am tomorrow ready for our first full day at PGL.
Goodnight from Osmington Bay.
