Hinduism
Thank you to Joshan's dad (Year 6) and Aarav's dad (Year 5) for coming to teach us about Hinduism. Joshan's dad taught us how a Hindu’s beliefs are directly linked to his or her actions and all about Karma and how we may unconsciously receive good or bad Karma. He also shared family photographs with us, which demonstrated the importance of colour and ritual especially during big celebrations such as weddings. We were also treated to traditional Hindu snacks. Aarav's dad taught us about Puja at home. He taught us that there may be several purposes for this collective worship: morning, evening, Diwali, weddings, new house, new car, anniversaries etc. He showed us home videos which featured idols, flowers, offerings, Diwas, incense and beautiful music. Our Year 4 children went on a visit to Radha Krishna Temple in London and learned all about the importance of worship to Hindus and witnessed an act of worship called Mantras. They joined in with singing and dancing as this is the best way that Hindus glorify their Lord.
