RE

Collective Worship

Your child has planned their own collective worship that they will lead at some point during the year with a chosen partner. This includes Gather, Word, Response and Mission. We will let your child know before it is their day in order to practise familiarising themselves with the scripture at home.

This half term our topic is 'Being a Sacramental People'.

Key Vocabulary  - Sacramental principle, Sacramental imagination, God, Sacraments, healing, anointing, words, actions, symbols, elements, ‘make present’, presence of God, oil, rings, bread and wine, water Sin, Reconciliation, Penance, Contrition, sorrow, making things right, holy, sacred, grace filled

In this topic, we will be learning about where is God now. The answer is, in our world, with us! The children will explore the fact that Catholics are a Sacramental People. They will then move on to looking at how we celebrate the presence of God in the Church. The children will also learn and focus on how the words, actions and symbols in the Sacrament of Reconciliation express its belief.

It is really useful to talk to children at home about different Bible stories in order for them to recognise various parables in class and make links between the meaning behind them and how it links with their own lives.
