PGL 2024 - 2025

Friday Morning

It has been a busy last morning at PGL and we are now on our way to our final destination, West Acton!

For their final morning, we had a mixture of heart racing and high focus activities which was a fantastic way to leave a successful week at Osmington Bay.

We had to test our archery skills and channel our inner Robin Hood! We were shown how to use a bow and arrow correctly, and were given some tips and tricks to hit the bulls eye! We found this a little tricky as the bow is so big and it can be tricky to aim. However, we really got into it and started competing against each other!

We also got a go on the giant swing! This was exhilarating as we were dropped from a height and swung into the air. As scary as this was, we were swung towards the Jurassic Coast which will be a beautiful final memory for us!

We have loved spending this week together and building stronger relationships - it has been the best week ever and one we will remember for the rest of our lives!

We hope to be back at Holy Family by 5pm but will keep you all updated on our ETA. Please ensure you do not block outside the school so the bus can park.

Pictures to follow soon.

Thursday Evening

For our final night in Osmington Bay, we got all scrubbed up and put on our outfits for a boogie! We all look very smart and were really excited to bust some moves together on our last night.

We are exhausted from our dancing and running around. We are getting ourselves packed up for our journey home tomorrow. We have loved this week at PGL but we are all very excited to get home and see our loved ones!

Thursday Afternoon

We were all stuffed after our lunch today! We got ourselves ready quickly and visited the gift shop on site. We were spoiled for choice and found it to be a really tricky decision to choose from the merchandise but we chose our bits and are delighted with our choices!

After this, we got to complete some more activities. Some of us did aeroball, abseiling, zip lining and trapeze! We really enjoyed these activities and worked up a big appetite for dinner. Today we had a choice of beef lasagne, vegetable lasagne or garlic chicken - delicious!

We are now back at base getting ourselves ready to dance the night away at the disco for our final night at PGL!

Thursday Morning

Sunny greetings from Osmington Bay on another glorious morning! We are looking forward to our final full day at PGL and are ready to give everything a go! We’ve filled our bellies with some delicious breakfast and are excited for the day we have ahead of exhilarating activities!

We met at Little Wembley for some laser tag. This was great fun as we worked against other teams to win! We had to use our precision and aim to tag other players in order to get them out and used the obstacles on the field as a shield and protection from getting tagged. This was quite tiring as we were running around lots and it required us all to be alert and ready to shoot!

Some of us got to do the zip wire which was such a beautiful and thrilling experience for us all! Not only were we zooming through the air at high speed, but we also got to take in the breathtaking views of Osmington Bay on this fine Thursday morning.

Other children got to do some abseiling and descend themselves bravely down a tall tower using their own strength and willpower. Everyone was really brave and they worked as a team to encourage and motivate each other to complete the activities!

All of our busy morning activities means we are hungry and well deserving of lunch! Today we have a choice of a cheese burger or a vegetable burger with ziggy fries and garden peas!

Wednesday Evening

We enjoyed a lovely meal together after our busy afternoon on the water building rafts. We are feeling great pride in ourselves and our school crest after receiving some wonderful comments from the PGL staff about our teamwork, manners and enthusiasm this afternoon.

After dinner, we were given a map and were given the freedom to roam around the PGL campus for our activity ‘Passport to the World’. We had to locate different countries scattered across the grounds of PGL according to their order on the map and answer questions. For each question we answered correctly, we got a point! It was really exciting to get to see and roam the campus at night and work as a team again!

We are all tired after our afternoon activity in the sea breeze. We have said our evening prayer together and are off to rest again for another busy day tomorrow!

Wednesday afternoon

We’re feeling nice and full after our lunch today! Unfortunately it was drizzling just before lunch, so we had a 6T vs 6JP dodgeball tournament which was a very close call and great fun!

We took some spare clothes with us for our journey this afternoon to the WPNSA and played some UNO on the way. In our groups, we had to work as a team and help each other tie knots, lift posts and barrels and then manoeuvre it into the sea. Finally, we got to test them! The water was very cold but we really enjoyed the result of our teamwork and were really proud of the outcome!

Now, we are heading back to base to get showered and warm! We are looking forward to our dinner this evening - vegetable korma, sausage roll or chicken tikka masala! Yummy!

Wednesday Morning

We have all woken up feeling well rested after a busy day yesterday! We got ourselves up early to get ready for breakfast to fuel ourselves for the day ahead! It is a beautiful day here in Osmington Bay and we can’t wait to have another great day of activities!

This morning, we got to learn about fencing and the techniques involved. We got to wear fencing attire which included a mask and an apron. We were taught the correct footwork like lunging and were shown how to use the foils correctly. We battled against each other which was really fun and different to the other activities we have done so far. It was quite tricky to remember how to move our feet but we got used to it!

We also got to do the trapeze today! This was really exciting as we had to climb up a narrow ladder to get to the platform at the top. When we reached the top, we had to be very brave and jump off to try and touch the hanging ball. This was exhilarating and we are very proud of ourselves for giving it a go!

Some of us also got to do some abseiling and had to descend from a tall tower using a rope. This was great fun and a lot of us felt really prepared for this after yesterday’s rock climbing.

We are hungry after our morning activities and are looking forward to having our lunch soon! Today we have the choice of homemade vegetable ratatouille or homemade beef bolognese! After lunch, we will be going back to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for some raft building!

Tuesday Evening

After our yummy dinner, we went to a nice quiet classroom on site to write and tell you all about the time we are having so far. We feel very grateful to be here together and can’t wait for you to read our letters!

After this, we went to the sportshall to take part in a PGL tournament. We got into groups and had to try and beat our opposing team. We did this in different ways, like using a sling shot for battleship and using frisbees to knock the can! We all really wanted to win and tried our best to get as many wins in the tournament as we could!

The sea air from our dragon boat race has tired us out and we are all looking forward to resting our heads after a very busy day. But we are really excited to have another fun day out tomorrow again!

Tuesday afternoon

After a delicious lunch, we took a very cool double decker bus to Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy where the 2012 Olympic Sailing competitions were held! We met our instructors and they taught us how to use our oars out at sea for our dragon boat race. It was quite windy which made it a bit tiresome but it was very enjoyable! We had 3 teams and had to race each other back to the shore!
We will be having our dinner shortly and have a choice of Mac and cheese, Katsu curry or vegetable fingers!

Later, we are planning to write some letters home to let you know what we have been up to and are looking forward to our PGL tournament in the evening!

Tuesday Morning

We have had a very busy morning at Osmington Bay! Before starting our exciting morning activities, we had a nutritious breakfast to set us up for the busy day ahead!

First we had a lovely beach walk. We got to create beach monsters and give a back story of their lives, what they like to eat and their hobbies. Then, we had a Berm race! We had to run backwards on the shifting pebbles and the quickest runner wins! This was really tricky because the rocks kept moving beneath our feet but it was very fun! Then, we got to see the WW2 pill boxes they used to use to look out for boats invading! Finally, we got to pick some rocks to splash into the sea.

We also got to take part in some rock climbing. This was exhilarating as the view from the top was beautiful as we looked out onto Osmington Bay on this beautiful morning.

We will be going for lunch soon and have the choice of jacket potatoe with either cheese, tuna or baked beans, or we can have chilli con carne with rice!
