Instrument lessons are offered in school on the flute, violin and guitar. Lessons take place in small groups and last for half an hour. The timetable is rotated regularly so that children do not miss the same class lesson continually. These lessons, for which a termly charge is made, are available to all pupils in KS2 (years 3-6).
Flute and violin lessons are provided by Clubs Complete for years 3 and 4 and by the Ealing Music Service for years 5 and 6. Guitar is taught by Mr Brown, the school music coordinator, and is offered to all children in KS2. All lessons take place in the Parish Hall. Year 5 and 6 violin and flute lessons are held on Tuesday afternoons whilst year 3 and 4 violin and flute lessons are on Thursday afternoons. Guitar lessons are on Fridays. Please be advised that each child can only learn one instrument at a time at school.
Many children in our school community learn instruments outside school. They are encouraged to perform in school as often as possible, e.g. playing the piano as the other children file into the hall for assembly.
Children who are learning an instrument will have the opportunity to play in larger groupings from time to time, including string and flute ensembles.
