Instrument lessons are offered in school on the flute, violin and guitar. Lessons take place in small groups and last for half an hour. The timetable is rotated regularly so that children do not miss the same class lesson continually. These lessons, for which a termly charge is made via ParentPay, are available to all pupils in KS2 (years 3-6).
Flute and violin lessons are provided by Clubs Complete for years 3 to 6. Guitar is taught by Mr Brown, the school music coordinator, and is offered to all children in KS2. All lessons take place in the Parish Hall. Flute and violin lessons are on Thursday afternoons. Guitar lessons are on Fridays. Please be advised that each child can only learn one instrument at a time at school.
Lessons are held in small groups and last for 30 minutes. There are ten lessons in each term. Lessons usually start two or three weeks after the start of the school term and may finish a week or two earlier than the end of term therefore.
Many children in our school community learn instruments outside school. They are encouraged to perform in school as often as possible, e.g. playing the piano as the other children file into the hall for assembly.
Children who are learning an instrument will have the opportunity to play in larger groups from time to time, including string and flute ensembles.
