This week, Year 6 will be exploring the beautiful Married Life montage from Up to inspire their Big Write. We will be thinking about how memories can capture some of the most important moments in our lives and how writers can convey emotions through small details, sensory descriptions and carefully chosen language.
The children will use Carl and Ellie's story to develop their ideas and craft a vivid, emotive flashback that brings a treasured memory to life.
As you watch, think about the following:
The moments: Which moments in Carl and Ellie’s life together stand out to you the most? Why might these moments be so special?
The emotions: How do Carl and Ellie feel at different points in their lives? How can you tell without any words being spoken?
The little details: What objects, places, sounds or gestures might become treasured memories?
The senses: What might Carl see, hear, smell or feel if he were remembering one of these moments?
The memories: If Carl could relive just one moment with Ellie, which would he choose? Why?
The feelings beneath the surface: How can a happy memory also make someone feel sad?
Thank you for your continued support,
