The Gospel of Jesus Christ on the Street
At Holy Family Catholic Primary School, Catholic Social Teaching is part of who we are and how we live each day. Inspired by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we encourage our children to love, serve, and care for others both in school and in the wider world. Catholic Social Teaching helps children understand that faith is lived through our actions. We want every child to recognise their God-given value and to know they can make a positive difference through kindness, fairness, respect, and service.
Catholic Social Teaching is woven throughout our whole curriculum. Through the topics children study in Science, Humanities, and the texts they explore in Literacy lessons, each area of learning is linked to a Catholic Social Teaching theme and question. This helps children make meaningful connections between their faith and the world around them, ensuring that Catholic Social Teaching is not something taught separately alongside RE, but a thread running through all areas of school life and learning.
The principles of Catholic Social Teaching are also reflected in our prayer life and wider school community. Through Religious Education, Celebration of the Word, assemblies, fundraising, and acts of service, children are encouraged to put their faith into action and follow Jesus by loving and serving others.
Through charity work, supporting local and global causes, caring for the environment, and responding to the needs of others with kindness and empathy, our children learn how to live out these teachings every day. At Holy Family, we want every child to know they can be a force for good in the world - following Jesus by helping to build a community of justice, peace, and love.
