Dear All,
Miss McGrath and I would like to say a heartfelt 'Thank You' for your kind gifts, flowers and wishes. It has been a pleasure to work with your children, supporting them as they begin their school journey at Holy Family. We have had a wonderful year and take with us some very special memories.
God bless.
Enjoy the holidays and see you all in September.
Best wishes
Mrs Willis and Miss McGrath
As Lent begins we are taking New Ways as our school charity. New Ways fund a variety of projects in the Turkana region of Kenya. Our fundraising will be to support the work of nurseries working with the very small children. These nurseries feed and educate the children offering them a much better start in life and preparing them for the future.
Angela Docherty the CEO of New Ways introduced the children to the charity with a simple power point showing aspects of life for the children in Turkana and followed this up with a tour of the school where she answered children’s questions. AM Nursery parents held a very successful Coffee Morning and raffle to introduce parents to the work of New Ways.
As our Lenten Project this year each class will hold a sponsored event for New Ways and we ask you to generously support these activities.
For further details about New Ways and their various projects please visit their web site at www.newways.org.uk
As part of our Growing topic we enjoyed a walk around the school grounds looking for signs of Spring.
Exciting Developments
This afternoon we moved the first of our two lots of cocoons to the freedom of their Butterfly House. So far AM Nursery are in the lead with all 5 caterpillars making cocoons. We're still waiting for 1 PM caterpillar to turn. We all wonder how soon we'll have butterflies.........watch this space.
AM and PM Nursery took their butterflies up to the wooded area on Friday and released them. We were very pleased that all 5 caterpillars in both houses became butterflies. We look forward to sharing the experience with the rest of the school again next year. Photos to follow!
We all enjoyed our Art Day last week when we looked closely at a painting by Bartolome Bermejo. The children decided they could see a monster and we based all our art work around this idea. Some of our work is displayed in the office area. Come in and have a look!
