Wednesday 9th December 

Our book to read this week is 'History of Science'. This illustrated book charts the history of scientific discoveries all the way from prehistory to Aristotle, the through the works of Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Linnaeus, and right through to the incredible scientific breakthroughs of today. We hope you enjoy reading it. Once you have read the book, please write a fact file about your favourite scientist. 

Wednesday 2nd December 

Our book to read this week is 'The Ride That Was Really Haunted '. A group of children, take a trip to a theme park and this should be a fun experience for them. However, when Samantha, Archer and their friends try out the haunted house ride, things go terribly wrong! Read on to find out what happens to the children. Once you have read the book, please have a go at writing a blurb. 

 

 

 

Wednesday 25h November

Our book to read this week is 'Countries Around the World Japan'. This non-fiction book provides complete coverage of this fascinating country, including a section on history, geography, wildlife, infrastructure and government, and culture. It also includes a detailed fact file, maps and charts, and a traceable flag for you to have a go at drawing. We hope you enjoy reading this book that is linked to our country for One World Week. 

 

Wednesday 18th November

Our book to read this week is 'Robin Hood'. Taking from the rich and giving to the poor, Robin Hood and his loyal followers fight for the oppressed against the evil Sheriff of Nottingham. Written in graphic-novel format children should enjoy reading this book. After reading the book, they should write a book review giving brief summary of the plot and their personal response to the book. 

 

                                                                

 

Wednesday 11th November 

Our book to read this week is 'Crash Course in Forces and Motion'. This graphic novel follows the adventures of Max Axiom as he explains the science behind forces and motion. 

Children can access the book using their myON login details. After reading the book, they can complete the writing task set linked to the book on myON. We hope they enjoy reading the book.                                                                                                   

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 4th November                                                                                                                           Our book to read this week is ‘THORNS, HORNS, AND CRESCENT MOONS’. This book is about Woods and brambles, hawks, and frogs. Mosquitoes, snow, and buffalo. This book celebrates nature of all kinds. It gives you the seeds you’ll need to grow your own poems. So open up, and discover the poet in you! Children can access the book using their myON login details. Once they have read the book they can complete a short piece of writing about which poem was their favourite and why. We hope they enjoy reading the book.

 

Wednesday 14th October

Our book to read this week is ‘Mythical Beasts and Fabulous Monsters’. A prince faces the man-eating Minotaur, a Viking challenges the hunry Kraken, and adventurer rises with the immense Roc and a boy quizzes the wise Phoenix. Children can access the book by going to the Oxford Owl website. They can then enter their class login at the top of the page on the tab - My class login. Once they have logged in they should read the ebook. Please use the class code alp8206 to use Get Epic. To use Get Epic after school, you must sign up with a parent email address. The children will have a book that has been assigned to them to read and a quiz to complete at the end.
