This week, you are invited to read ‘Bermuda Triangle’ this graphic novel follows the adventures of Isabel Soto as she explores the mysteries of the Bermuda Triangle.

Once you have read the book, write a diary entry as Isabel Soto and her adventure.

This week, you are invited to read 'A Field Guide to Dragons, Trolls and other Dangerous Monsters '. Can you recognize the stench of a troll’s lair? Where is the best place to find a two-headed giant? What is the safest way to observe a dragon? These fantastic creatures and other may not be real, but what if they were? This handy field guide gives you everything you need to study these dangerous monsters of the imagination.

 

 

3. Writing 

Once you have read the book, write a set of instructions about how to catch a dragon.

Learn all about these buzzing, stinging, creepy crawlers; where they live, what they eat, and why they’re important. Reading this text will also provide you with lots of information about our new topic Beast Creator.

This week, you are invited to read 'Alice in Wonderland '. One day, a young girl named Alice suddenly spots a frantic White Rabbit, wearing a waistcoat and carrying a pocket watch. She follows the hurried creature down a hole into the magical world of Wonderland. While there, Alice meets more crazy creatures, including the Mad Hatter, the Caterpillar, and the Cheshire Cat, and plays a twisted game of croquet with the Queen of Hearts. However, when the Queen turns against her, this dream-like world quickly becomes a nightmare.

This week, you are invited to read 'Ancient Egyptian Myths'. Discover how Egyptians used myths to describe things they couldn’t explain. How did the Earth form? Why is it dark at night? Why do people get sick? This book will tell you all the myths that the Egyptians used to describe the things that they could not explain.

 

 

 

3. Writing

Once you have read the book, have a go at writing your own myth.

 

 

4. Spellings

Please learn the spellings for week 5.  

 

5. Art

Our friend PC McGuigan, from the Metropolitan Police, has invited our children to enter a competition.

 

The theme is “Turn your Hero into a Superhero”. Since the start of COVID-19 we have had many hero’s helping us in many different ways such as those below. (There are many, many more).

Paramedics

Teachers

Police

Postal workers

Delivery Drivers

Parents or carers

Supermarket workers

Testers and Vaccinators

 

 Example – A nurse being made into Superwoman….

 

If you wish to enter you need to produce an A4 Poster using either pencil, felt tip or paint of your hero. You may name your hero if you want and the you must put your name, age and Holy Family at the bottom of the poster.

 

The closing date is Friday 12th February and the winner will be announced after half term.

This week, you are invited to read 'A Coding Mission'. When you have a problem, where can you go for answers? The library! When Codie and his friends join Ms. Gillian, the Specialist, on another Adventure in Makerspace, they find themselves lost in a maze, with a monster just around the corner! Can they code their way out? Join them to complete Mission: Coding!

This week, you are invited to read 'Mummies of Ancient Egypt'. This book is about discovering that mummies are more than just bodies wrapped in bandages! Learn about some famous mummies and where they are buried. Find out why ancient Egyptians preserved their dead and why becoming a mummy was important to life after death.

Once you have read the book, write a set of instructions about the mummification process. Using your learning from the topic lesson this week to help you.

This week, you are invited to read ‘Pharaohs and Dynasties’. This book is about Egyptians, they believed pharaohs received their power from the gods. Pharaohs were absolute rulers and formed the links between the gods and humans. Learn more about the pharaohs and their dynasties, including how they lives and how they ruled people of ancient Egypt.

This week, you are invited to read 'Beetle Moth'. This story is about dung beetles that are discovered as missing from the ranch, and it is thought that this might be the work of Stinky McCree. Read the graphic-novel to find out who committed the crime. Once you have read the book, please write a book review about it.
