Reading:

Your book for this week is called ‘Tools and Treasures of Ancient Greece’ from the website Get Epic. We would like you to read this book and then complete the quiz at the end.

Writing

Option 1: Read page 12 again, where it mentions the role of women in Ancient Greece. Discuss this with a member of your family, perhaps you could have a debate with them. We would then like you to write a piece of persuasive writing, or a balanced argument for/ against women being allowed to do things linked to the text on page 12. Compare and contrast this with the role of women in modern day Britain. Use the powerpoint and word mat in the resources folder to help you structure your writing and use effective vocabulary.

Option 2: Write your own version of the popular Greek myth, The Flight of Icarus, on page 29. Consider the message in this story, what is it telling you? Now change parts of this story to create your own. Instead of using feathers to make wings, what could they have used? What might have happened to him as a result? When adapting a story to create a new version, it is important to think of the message behind the story. Make sure that your version has a message behind it as well.
