Holy Family has adopted a Connected Curriculum comprising of a structured framework of Learning Units. Foundation subjects History, Geography, D&T, Art, Music and the Core Subject Science are connected by theme and mapped to The National Curriculum requirements at KS1; the Early Years Foundation Stage Learning Units are aligned to the Development Matters and Early Learning Goals/Early Years Outcomes. Opportunities to explore ICT are shown in the Learning Units and the new programming aspect is incorporated within. Each Learning Unit has one or two focus subjects. The focus subject of a Learning Unit provides the opportunity to ‘get under the skin’ of the skills and deepen understanding of that subject area.
We follow the curriculum directory as set by the Bishops of England & Wales. In order to do this effectively we use a variety of resources to ensure our Religious Education curriculum is creative and stimulating. The RE curriculum is enhanced by the use of liturgy and collective worship as well as weekly assembly based on the Sunday Gospel.
